Cybersecurity skills

Cybersecurity skills are in demand now more than ever before.

The world continues to evolve, and the tech industry needs to catch up and meet the demand. As we continue to move into the digital spaces, the global cybersecurity skills shortage is now as dire as ever, and most organizations are feeling the pinch, new research finds.

In this week’s tech recap, we explore the critical data points on the cybersecurity skills shortage, companies betting on data must value people as much as A.I., Elon Musk’s unveiling of Tesla’s advanced humanoid robot and the importance of having soft skills in tech jobs.

Key data points on the cybersecurity skills shortage:

A report was conducted to ask cybersecurity professionals several questions about the global cybersecurity skills shortage as part of the research.

Is it real?  Are things improving or getting worse?  Is your organization impacted and, if so, how?

If your company is looking for cybersecurity talent or you are in the cybersecurity space, we suggest that you have a look at these exciting findings to stay up-to-date.

Companies betting on data must value people as much as A.I.

While most data scientists spend more than 20% of their time at work on fundamental analysis, they still have to waste countless hours turning a trove of messy data into a tidy dataset ready for analysis.

This process can include removing duplicate data, making sure all entries are formatted correctly and doing other preparatory work.

Data is pulled into massive databases, and data scientists are left with a lot of cleaning to do, while others, whose time was wasted on helping fetch the data, do not benefit from it too often.

All of this reminds us that companies have yet to master thinking with data, and hiring the right people is vital.  Click here for more insights.

Elon Musk’s unveiling of Tesla’s advanced humanoid robot

Yes, this is yet another advanced Elon Musk innovation!

Tesla boss Elon Musk has revealed the company is building a highly advanced humanoid robot.

This was revealed during a presentation at Tesla’s A.I. Day event on Thursday, August 19.

The upcoming “Tesla Bot,” as Musk called it, is designed to “eliminate dangerous, repetitive, boring tasks,” with a prototype expected to appear sometime next year.

Musk said it made sense to design the robot as Tesla engineers have already created “semi-sentient robots on wheels” in the form of its vehicles. Therefore, much of the technology should be refined and transferred.

Importance of having soft skills in tech jobs.

When you’re looking for job opportunities in tech, don’t focus on certifications alone. According to hiring managers, non-tech “soft skills” can be just as essential.

A recent survey of tech industry workers showed more than tech ‘know-how’ involved in landing a good job.

According to the survey, companies looking for tech candidates, especially quality candidates with the potential for upward career trajectories, want soft skills—non-technical skills such as time management, leadership, communication, creativity, and so on—almost as much as up-to-date tech skills.

This is why.
